MAYOORA-A TANJORE PAINTING

Usually, Hindu religious icons are depicted

in Tanjore Paintings- a traditional art form of India.

In this painting, I have chosen to portray

a glorious peacock -an all time favorite

Indian motif...In fact,

You can hardly find  an Indian art form

where a peacock is not depicted in it's unique style...

and true to the tradition of Tanjore paintings,

here is a peacock embellished

in gold and semi precious stones...

PEACOCKS - A MADHUBANI PAINTING

After a long time ,I am sharing a simple and colorful

Madhubani Painting

depicting the all time favorite motif

in various Indian arts and crafts - The Peacock

or the Mayoora...

these multicolored peacocks

capture the essence of the true original

Madhubani artisan- the unlettered woman

from a village of the Madhuban district of Bihar...

for her these paintings were the way she

celebrated life and every moment of it too...

A COLORFUL PEACOCK - A TILE PAINTING

THIS IS A FUNKY TILE PAINTING THAT I DID ON A LEFTOVER ,

SPARE PLAIN CERAMIC TILE...

I JUST SKETCHED A FREE HAND OUTLINE ON THE TILE WITH A CD MARKER...

THEN OUTLINED THE SKETCH WITH A GLASS LINER AND LET IT DRY...

NEXT DAY , I FILLED UP THE PEACOCK WITH GLASS COLORS OF DIFFERENT HUES...

AND...

MY PEACOCK WAS DULY MOUNTED ON A TEXTURED CLOTH BOARD

AND FRAMED UP...
