A VILLAGE SCENE- A WARLI ART

 
Here is my Warli  Art  work...

Usually you find Warli Art works/ Warli Paintings depict everyday happenings from their lives...

Take a close look at this work...and you will see a common village scene-

that is typical of any Indian village or for that matter -typical of a rural community in any part of the world.

You see villagers frolicking ,people throwing water on each other...houses with lofts where pots are

stored,birds on rooftop, a drummer,a cart,woman cooking...trees...etc..

.typical in a village..all represented with simple forms...

In Warli Art,the human figures are depicted with 2 triangles that make the body a circlerepresents the head

and angular  lines make the limbs...

Usually, we do the figures in white color on black background...

Since I wanted to add a personal touch,I chose a rich crimson background and worked with

golden colored 3-D outliner to get a subtle relief effect...

            400 yrs old Tribal Art Form Warli art originated in Thane Dist. of maharashtra, western part of India, in a village also know by the name Warli. It is situated near Dhanau. This art is a 2 dimensional, with no perspective or proportion. Warli painting is simple and linear with the maximum use of triangular shapes. As the universal energy YIN/YANG; concept having the upward facing triangle representing the Male and the downward facing triangle representing the Woman. It also represent fertility as the tribal belief revolve around the cycle of Birth and Death. No wedding takes place without the drawing of "mother Goddess" in the front portion of the Bride's house. Usually the paintings are done by married women. Another important ceremony in the "Tarpa Dance". The village head is known as "Bhagat".

           In this mural,I have incorporated Warli motifs with a mild 3-D effect and a glint of gold to enhance its grandeur and beauty...
