We go to a restuarant and pay Rs.500 for a dinner for 2 without bargaining ...
and add a tip of 20 bucks...
We buy a pair of shoes or a designer outfit or a costly watch -
all at MRP without wincing...and it costs a bomb!
But I am aghast to see such people who can very well afford such luxuries-
bargain hard with poor Below Poverty Line people like the street tailor,
flower seller ,sabzi wali or a poor daily wage earning laborer...
What are you going to save by this kind of hard bargaining?
2-50 rupees?
It means nothing to us but a lot to them, isnt it?
Why do they resort to this?
Some cheap thrill?
Or just to show their might?
I wonder...

Hi - good views on bargains - we must try to encorage small time vendors. That is why FDI on retailing is being stalked.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments,Nitya.
ReplyDeleteFDIs are a real threat to these small fries. They will be wiped out.
