BUTTERFLY AND FLOWERS...-A NIB PAINTING

Here is a simple and colorful nib painting ....

I chose a simple embroidery design and traced it on

a piece of black felt cloth and worked on the design

with oil paints using specially designed nibs...

We have to be a little cautious while doing a nib painting

as oil colors take long to dry and mistakes and mess ups

are almost irreversible...

I wait for at least a week for the work to dry up before

 I frame it up...

FLOWER BASKET - A NIB PAINTING

HERE IS A NIB PAINTING....DONE LONG BACK

A SIMPLE FLORAL BASKET...AN ALL TIME FAVORITE DESIGN

I PICKED UP THIS DESIGN FROM AN OLD EMBROIDERY DESIGN BOOK...

AND AS A GOOD NIB PAINTING USUALLY GET'S MISTAKEN

FOR A HAND EMBROIDERY,I THOUGHT IT WAS WELL SUITED FOR THIS MEDIUM...

AND SURE...FLOWER BASKET DESIGNS ARE ALWAYS POPULAR UNIVERSALLY TOO..

SOMEHOW ,I LIKED DESIGNING THIS BASKET MORE THAN

THE REGULAR STROKED FLOWERS...

FLORAL BUNCH_A NIB PAINTING...

I always love to do NIB PAINTINGS...

I chose a simple embroidery design of flowers and planned to do a NIB PAINTING...

First,I traced the design on a black felt cloth and applied oil colors with the help

of specially crafted nibs(available in craft stores) and carefully fashioned the flovers and

leaves with these nibs...

I know it is a messy job-as this paint lakes a long time to dry

and there is every chance of smudging and messing up the work...

But...when it is over-it is worth the effort and the time spent on it...

And  a good NIB PAINTING looks like an embroidery work..

.and pastel shades enhance the beauty of the piece...

CUTE LITTLE FLOWERS -A NIB PAINTING...

Here is my Nib Painting....

I picked up this design from

an embroidery design sheet...

I decided to use it in some art work

and I found Nib painting the right platform...

Usually nib paintings are done on a felt cloth

which is stretched or stuck on a board...

I traced out the design...

preferred a pastel shade for the flowers

and gave bright shades of green

 for the leaves...

the  stalks got a yellowish shade

 to bring out the difference...

when the work was finished  using oil colors

with a set of special nibs and was about to be framed...

my friend who saw it commented

" Nice embroidery work..."

I told her that it is not an embroidery

but a Nib Painting...

and the success of a good nib painting

is it should look like a needle work...

I was glad my Nib flowers passed the test...

A Nib Painting- PEACOCK .....

A peacock -one of the prettiest birds

that graces this earth-

is always a cynosure of your eyes...

No wonder the peacock is given

the exalted privilege and status of being

the National Bird of our country...

And this is one bird that is always

the favorite of all artists and craft persons...

and it beautifully adapts itself to any form of art...

paintings...sculptures...embroidery...

poems...dance...and  more....

Peacock is an All Time Favorite theme

in all these creative forms...

And definitely one of my favorite themes too...

This Nib Painting shows my pretty

peacock perched gracefully

on a flowery tree....

This work is done on a black felt cloth

with a special set of nibs -

(the main tool for nib painting)

with oil paints...

The main ingredient for this work

     is patience and precision...

(oil paints mess up easily and it is

not really possible to reverse the mistakes)

And the bright green leaves,

shaded pretty pink flowers

and the tree trunk do provide

 a perfect backdrop

 for this beautiful bird...
