A SIMPLE DECORATIVE POT

Here is a simple terracota pot...

decorated in a few minutes...

The black colored pot looked so drab and plain...

So I just dribbled a few drops of

multicolored nail polish  from the mouth of the pot...

It flowed down in its own course and dried

in a matter of minutes...

And Voila! a cute painted pot was ready in a jiffy!

and  it got more appreciation than some pieces

which took hours and hours of precise, back breaking work!

SHIMMERING POT

This was an old terracota pot

waiting to be decorated....

I just varnished it and dusted

some multicolored glitters

on the wet surface and let it dry....

And it resulted in a shimmering pot

with the base terracota color intact...

ROSES ON A TERRACOTA POT

Here is a bunch of hand made roses

on a terracota pot...

These roses are shaped with

a mixture of ceramic powder and glue...

and then the roses are painted

with Pearl colors to give them a sheen

which highlights them and sets

them off against the dark background of the pot...

A DIFFERENT POT DECORATION

Here is an attractive and simple pot decoration idea...

Just paint the teracotta pot with a dark enamel paint...

Dry the pot for a day or two...

Take a few strands of fake golden colored bead strings

and mirror bits...(available in local fancy stores...)

Stick them symmetrically in the fashion you wish...

(preferably draw an outline before sticking them)

Now ,an attractive decorated pot is ready!

GLITTER DECORATION ON A TERRACOTA POT

Here is a terracota pot

decorated with paper glitters...

I painted the pot black and

dried  it for a day....

Then, nozzled out some

simple Mehandi designs on it...

I took another day to dry up.

This pot is nearly 10 years old,

and has had a number of soapy washes....

yet,the glitters have not lost its lustre....

BEJEWELED TERRACOTA POT

Inspired by the rave reviews

my terracota pot with temple jewelry got

I tried out a whole array of temple jewels

on a huge terracota pot painted black....

They are all fashioned with Tanjore painting stones

and gold  3 -D liner....

The main secret of this breathtaking work

is tonnes and tonnes of patience and dedication...

Have a closer look at the various jewelled motifs,

arranged strategically on the stark ,

                                             black back ground...

POT WITH TEMPLE JEWELLRY

We all love jewels

especially,the famous

antique jewels of Nagerkovil

called Temple jewelry...

Usually these jewels are studded

with uncut rubies,emeralds and diamonds...

Pendant (P - 04)

FLORAL POT DECORATION

Here is my decorated pot...

This is originally a dull mud pot...

which is-may be -used to store

 water in olden days...

But,in days  of packaged mineral water

and refrigerated ice cold water,

the cool water stored in mud pots

holds no charm today...

But ,these quaint shaped mud pots

have found a better ,aesthetic use nowadays...

I just picked up this mud pot

from a roadside potter...

I patiently sandpapered it...

then gave it a coat of primer

and then a shiny coat of black enamel paint.

I let it dry well for a few days...

Then I made a dough of

ceramic powder and glue...

(somethig with a consistency of chappati dough)

and shaped leaves and flowers with this dough

and stuck it on the pot.

Again I let it dry up naturally

in my shady balcony for a few days...

Now the ceramic work was ready for painting...

I coloured it with acrylic colors

and gave it a shiny coat of varnish...

Now ,it is a perfect corner piece, indeed!

DECORATED POT - MY BRUSH HOLDER

THIS BRUSH HOLDER HAS A LITTLE STORY BEHIND IT...

ONCE,WHEN I WENT TO A TEMPLE,I BROUGHT A EARTHEN PIGGY BANK

FROM THE ROADSIDE SHOP NEAR THE TEMPLE...

AND AS THE PIGGY BANK FILLED UP TO A CERTAIN EXTENT...I COULD NOT RESIST

OPENING IT UP...AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN IT IS TO BREAK IT....

I DID NOT HAVE A HEART TO SMASH IT MERCILESSLY...

SO I CAREFULLY CHIPPED OPEN THE MOUTH OF THE PIGGY BANK...

AND HAPPILY COUNTED SAVINGS...

THE BROKEN KITTY LOOKED PATHETIC...

THEN I DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING WITH IT...

WITH SOME MSEAL  ,I SHAPED UP AND SMOOTHENED THE JAGGED BROKEN MOUTH

AND STUCK A ROUND BORDER ON THE POT AND STUCK

A LITTLE GANESH IN THE CENTER...

AND THEN GAVE A TEXTURED EFFECT TO THE POT WITH PLASTER OF PARIS...

DRIED IT AND GAVE IT AN ANTIQUE PAINTED FINISH...

NOW...IT IS MY PRIZED PAINT BRUSH HOLDER!!!!

ASHTALAKSHMI POT

I HAVE GIVEN A MAKEOVER TO A HUMBLE MUD POT

USUALLY USED TO STORE DRINKING WATER...

I GOT A SET OF  ASHTALAKSHMIS (8 LAKSHMIS)

MADE OUT OF PLASTER OF PARIS...

POSITIONED THEN AROUND THE POT AND STUCK THEM  ...

THEN, I WORKED WITH  MSEAL

AND GAVE THE POT A TEXTURED EFFECT WITH PLASTER OF PARIS

AFTER IT DRIED FOR A DAY,

I PAINTED IT WITH BLACK COLOR

AND THEN TOUCHED IT UP WITH BRONZE COLORED PAINT

AND THE RESULT IS - THIS ANTIQUE  BRONZE  POT  !!!!!
