VILLAGE LIFE - AN OIL PAINTING
A scene from a Rajastani village-
The bejewelled womenfolk are busy grinding the grains
for their daily meal as they sit before
their mud huts and the old man
happily entertains them as well as the passers by
with the music from his stringed instrument...
That is what I have tried to depict in this oil painting...

SERENE WOODS -MY OIL PAINTING
A calm and serene night
in the woods ...
a quaint and cosy log cabin...
my own Zen place....
a perfect setting for a getaway
from the hustle and bustle our concrete jungles...
The conifers glistening on a moonlit night adds
to the charm of this beautiful hideout ...
I swear you cannot find a match to this place
in the best of luxury hotels or swanky resorts...

YELLOW ROSES - AN OIL PAINTING
Here is an oil painting
where I have depicted a small
bunch of yellow roses...
The burnished tone adds a special touch
to these roses as usually
we tend to see pink, red or white
roses in various art forms...
but such a muted and subdued tone
is something offbeat and unusual...
Do note the ripened leaves
which complements these roses perfectly...

Distant Mountains....My Oil Painting...
Here is my favorite oil painting
which I painted more than 15 years ago...
The inspiration for this painting is
an art book by Walter Foster...
It is done on a fairly big canvas (3 feet x 4 feet)...
I would call this a simple to handle
yet strikingly attractive landscape...
At least half a dozen students of mine have done
replicas of this piece and I am surprised to say
each one is entirely unique with
some different touch or feature...
The distant blue mountains... the conifers...
the lonely log cabin...
the rough and unkempt grass...
the fence that needs mending...
the forked path...
where do they take you?
to that old log cabin ?
or the faraway hills???
Sometimes, when I aimlessly gaze at this painting,
I temporarily get transported
to this cool, beautiful, clean, unpolluted part of our planet
a far cry from the dusty, noisy,
smog-filled concrete jungle I live in...
