TO STAND AND STARE....A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

"What's life if full of care...

If we have no time to stand and stare?"

The little boy in this stained glass painting

reminds me of these lines...

Sure -He has a lot of time to stand and stare...

to stand under the shady tree and

gaze at the distant boat on

a perfect afternoon during his vacation,(maybe!)

VIOLETS AND BLUEBIRDS -A STAINED GLASS LAMPSHADE

When I decided to give an unusual twist

to a stained glass painting.

I decided to light it ...

So I got my carpenter to

make a sturdy wooden frame

with a groove to slide in a a glass sheet.

and an additional holder and wiring

made it a lampshade with a difference.

And ,I set off with my glass liners

and some glass  colors and

you  see the the end product...

SAILBOAT - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

The same design gets an entirely new look,

perspective and appeal when

we change the colors and textures...

In another post, this same sketch

looked different...

In this piece , I used frosted glass

and some matte shading technique...

and what a difference it made!

SAILBOAT - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Usually stained glass paintings

show off bright and eye catching colors...

In this painting I stuck to pale shades

especially the water and the skies

get a unique water color effect

with the deft use of mild shades

of blue, brown ,pink and orange ...

This shading lends its own

magical touch to this piece....

and the frosted glass base

adds to the effect!

COOL BLUES - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Here is my stained glass painting

which tries to capture

the moods of the sky and the sea

in subtle hues of blue....

 the sands and the rocks

helps to bring out the striking beauty

of the blues....

unlike the multicolored stained glass paintings

this one gets it's unique charm

through the measured use of limited shades....

TWO LITTLE BIRDS -A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Two pretty birds hovering over a bunch of flowers

and feasting on the nectar.....

this is what this simple and attractive

stained glass painting portrays...

what birds are these?

I know not-

are they hummingbirds or lovebirds?

I am not too sure ....

I just wanted to paint them with

bright and cheerful colors

so that they radiate positive vibes where ever they are...

KOLAM - A MIRROR PAINTING

Here is a simple yet strikingly

attractive stained glass painting

done on a 12"x 12"piece of mirror....

The design reminds me of

a traditional KOLAM -

hence the name ....

The dark green,orange and yellow

colors once again contribute to the

traditional "Rangoli "look....

SAILBOAT AT SUNSET -A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Here is an old stained glass painting

of mine done almost two decades ago...

What amazed me is that the colors

have not faded or lost their sheen till date

though I have given it very little care ...

The riot of colors still transport me

to a different plane  and lift up

my sagging spirits whenever I take even

a fleeting glance at it...

FLOWER BURST- A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Multicolored flowers

create a magic with a  unique charm ....

The striking colors and the

medium-sparkling glass-

adds to the charm when it lets

light pass through and light up the painting

to a poem in glass!

A SIMPLE MIRROR PAINTING...

Here  is a striking yet simple

glass painting ...

I used a mirror as a base just to

enhance the brightness and the colors...

and it added to the magic ,indeed...

The clear blue sky,the shaded meadows

and the eye catching flowers -

all lend their own bit to add on

HEALTHY N TASTY FRUITS - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

What can be more inviting

than a wide collection of

luscious fresh,juicy and ripe fruits

full of goodness

in your dining room...

Here they are...

but - a small difference...

They are on the wall

done on a piece of glass

with bright glass colors...

Too bad they are not edible!

CRIMSON LILIES - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Here are these strikingly attractive

crimson lilies....

depicted in my simple stained glass painting....

unlike the usual stained glass paintings

which are a medley of colors,

this one has just red and green

and a tiny dash of yellow...

LEAVES AND FLOWERS -A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

These autumn leaves  in various shades

are always a beautiful sight....

And the surrounding dainty flowers

in many hues play a perfect complement to them...

And no wonder this simple stained glass painting

is a riot of colors and spreads positiveness  and cheer...

A BUNCH OF FLOWERS -A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Here is a simple stained glass painting...

A colorful bunch of flowers ...

Though it is based on a simple embroidery design,

I found it suitable for a glass painting...

and this is the end - result...

ANOTHER GANESHA ON A MIRROR

I wish to share a simple

glass painting  done on a mirror...

A Ganesha on any medium

catches my fancy and

this medium is no exception...

Since I did not want any bare patches

of the mirror to be exposed,

I covered the background areas

with silver glitter and

enhanced parts of the main design

with gold colored glitters...

LOTUSES - A STAINED GLASS PAINTING

Here is my old favorite simple stained glass painting...

one reason for my special liking for this

painting is that it depicts

our typically Indian lotuses

while usually roses and tulips

and other flowers are more in any art work...

TINTED GLASS BOWL

Here is a plain glass bowl

given a  colorfully vibrant make over....

I took a plain glass bowl which had some

floral designs engraved in it...

I carefully stained the designs

with glass colors and let it dry well...

Now,  a tinted glass bowl...

an interesting center piece...

a decorative fruit bowl is ready....

And it is hand washable too...

(I avoid harsh cleaners though...)
