The fogotten postman...

Once upon a time...

Why -not soooo long ago...

The postman was one of the most eagerly awaited person in almost all households...

With the communication revolution-he is almost totally replaced by Emails,SMSs ,courierservice etc.

Yes,now and then we do get an ocassional letter which is purely impersonal-like the telephone bill, the occassional subscribed journal or an official printed notice requesting a donation for the temple annual car procession(they are still in the snail mail era!)

I remember the cute floran cards I recieved on my birthday and those Ganesh and Laxmi Cards We sent out for Diwali (posted a week earlier to avoid the ubiquitous delay)

I remember the days when an STD was a luxury and a telegram made you skip a heart beat.
Not any more-Nowadays,kids learn to text mesages before they go to a creche and a telegram is seen only in old afternoon reruns .

Loveletters and the appointment order and the letter from prospective Maapillai announcing his arrival for Bride Seeing are small pleasures the next generation will nolonger know of...

You can hug a loveletter and smother it with kisses but what about a crisp message?

Is there a substitue to these micro joys?

Answer please....Technology....
