KONARK WHEEL - A MURAL

  •

This mural is based on the famous wheel of the Sun Temple  in Konark.

It is worked on a wooden base with ceramic powder and glue mixed together to form a dough.

Over that markings are made to give the necessary cuts and dents...

In the center of the ornate wheel,I have placed a hand made Ganesha,

Surrounding him are symbols that are considered sacred to Hindus-

Namely-Surya,Chandra,OM,SHREE,Lotus,Kumbh,Swastika and the feet of the Divine.

I gave the whole mural a matallic coating topped with a burnished ,antique finish.

  1. superb! I need to learn this art. I have ceramic powder but don't know the proportion of glue & powder to be used.

  2. Mira,
Usually you have to add white glue little by little till you make a chappati dough like mass with the ceramic powder.(I find fevicol too messy to clean up after measuring with a cup or glass).Do try with small quantity first.
